After six years since its initial proposal, the long awaited Big Wheel at Dawlish Warren has finally been installed. Standing at 34 meters tall, the observation wheel will grace the grassy expanse of Beach Walk, owned by the Teignbridge District Council. The grand wheel stands next to the popular "Funder Park" amusement park, with a plethora of other thrilling rides and attractions.

The wheel promises breath-taking vistas spanning across the Warren and its cherished nature reserve, extending to the Exe estuary and beyond. With 108 seats distributed among 18 gondolas, it offers ample space for passengers to soak in the panoramic scenery with views to Exmouth and beyond.

From the inception of plans in 2018 to its imminent debut this summer, the journey has been long and arduous. Despite the delays, anticipation mounts as the wheel prepares to welcome its first guests.

The wheel has received planning permission for a six-month stint over the summer season. During this time, its potential impact on biodiversity and the delicate ecosystem of the Exe estuary will be carefully evaluated and reviewed.
