The Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey
The Coronation Service will take place on the morning of Saturday, 6th May 2023 .
Their Majesties The King and The Queen Consort will arrive at Westminster Abbey in procession from Buckingham Palace, known as ‘The King’s Procession’.
After the Service, Their Majesties will return to Buckingham Palace in a larger ceremonial procession, known as ‘The Coronation Procession’. Their Majesties will be joined in this procession by other Members of the Royal Family.
At Buckingham Palace, The King and The Queen Consort, accompanied by Members of the Royal Family, will appear on the balcony to conclude the day’s ceremonial events.
EVENTS IN DEVON:
Okehampton – Okehampton’s Town Hall are offering a free coffee morning in the Charter Hall with the Coronation livestreamed so the community can watch together at 10:00. During the afternoon, there will be a street party with bring-and-share food. There will be musical entertainment as well as dancing.
Torre Abbey Meadows – A screening of the Coronation at Torre Abbey Meadows.
Paignton Green – A fireworks display to be held at Paignton Green.

The Coronation Big Lunch
Neighbours and communities across the United Kingdom are invited to share food and fun together at Coronation Big Lunches on Sunday 7th May 2023, in a nationwide act of celebration and friendship.

EVENTS IN DEVON:
Exeter – Exeter Cathedral’s ‘County Service of Celebration’ at 16:00.
Torre Abbey Meadows – A screening of the Coronation Concert from Windsor will take place on Torre Abbey Meadows. Furthermore, a number of community activities and a programme of musical entertainment on the stage, as well as a bar and food outlets, will be available too. There will also be a marquee promoting volunteering in line with The Big Help Out and opportunities the following day and thereafter run by the Community Development Trust.
Brixham – Brixham is holding a ‘Thanksgiving Service’ at the All Saints Church starting at 19:00, followed by a firework display in Brixham’s harbour after the service at 21:00.

The Big Help Out
The Big Help Out is being organised by The Together Coalition and a wide range of partners such as The Scouts, the Royal Voluntary Service and faith groups from across the United Kingdom. The Big Help Out will highlight the positive impact volunteering has on communities across the nation.
In tribute to His Majesty The King’s public service, The Big Help Out will encourage people to try volunteering for themselves and join the work being undertaken to support their local areas.
EVENTS IN DEVON:
Brixham – Brixham Town Square is holding a Christian service at 11:00, followed by a community ‘sing-a-long’ at 11:30. Members of the public will then retire to the Methodist Hall at 12:00 for the cutting and distribution of Coronation cake.
Torbay Community Development Trust – A number of volunteering opportunities will be made available.
