The Devon County Show 2026 is leaning into its rural charm this year with a delightful line-up of animal-themed attractions. Taking place from May 21–23, the event introduces the brand-new Pygmy Goat Playground alongside the much-anticipated return of the Alpaca Café, both designed to give visitors an interactive and memorable experience.
Located within the Family Fun Zone, the new Pygmy Goat Playground features a purpose-built "Pygnasium" where a lively group of adult and kid goats can be seen climbing and playing. The custom obstacle course includes a trampoline, wobble bridge, A-frame, and even a slide. Beyond the entertainment, families are encouraged to chat with the handlers to learn about the care and behaviour of these animals, which are becoming increasingly popular among hobby farmers and smallholders.
Back for its second year, the Alpaca Café offers a unique setting where visitors can relax at tables inside a marquee while friendly alpacas wander freely among them. This attraction provides a rare opportunity to get close to these charismatic animals, offer them a few alpaca nuts, and snap photos in a relaxed environment.
Show Manager Lisa Moore notes that these attractions represent the heart of the show by offering fun, hands-on ways for the public to connect with rural life. She anticipates both will be significant highlights for families seeking a safe and engaging animal encounter.
Both experiences are open throughout all three days of the show and are included with general admission. While entry to the Alpaca Café is free, visitors are invited to make a voluntary donation to Basics Devon, the Devon County Show’s official charity of the year.
