Sun-Drenched Sips and Miso Glazes: Linger All Afternoon Over Cosy Club’s New Spring/Summer Menu

Sun-Drenched Sips and Miso Glazes: Linger All Afternoon Over Cosy Club’s New Spring/Summer Menu

Cosy Club officially has launched its new spring–summer menu, and it is clearly built for those long, balmy afternoons that have no fixed end point. This season, they’ve introduced an expanded Margarita Menu and a dedicated Martini section, perfect for settling in at a sun-drenched table as the day drifts into evening.

We started our visit to Exeter's Cosy Club with a round of vibrant coolers that embraced the seasonal shift. The Pink Lemonade at £5.35 provided a sharp, zesty hit of fresh lemon and pomegranate, while the Watermelon and Basil Cooler, also £5.35, was an incredibly refreshing blend of pineapple and aromatic basil. While we stuck to the soft options, the new cocktail sections looked tempting, especially with the Margaritas featuring bold, summery flavours like Spicy Pear and Picante.

The small plates are exceptionally strong this year. As per our tradition, we ordered the Sharing Monkey Bread for £7.95. This clotted cream-enriched loaf, created exclusively for Cosy Club by Baker Tom in Cornwall, is finished with a miso glaze and, as the press release warns, it tends to disappear faster than seems possible. We also loved the Garlic and Paprika Prawns at £8.95, served on toasted sourdough bites with a rich smoked paprika butter. However, our favourite of the starters was the Black Pepper and Lemon Smoked Salmon for £8.95. The quality of the Norfolk smoked salmon was evident, paired beautifully with a soft herb salad and a clever honey-whipped ricotta on rye bread.

For the main course, the Chicken and Smoked Bacon Caesar Salad at £16.95 proved to be a classic done brilliantly, featuring a roasted chicken breast and a soft-boiled free-range egg. We also tried the Buttermilk Chicken Milanese for £18.50. It’s a wonderfully indulgent dish, topped with a free-range fried egg and Gran Levanto cheese, but it was the truffle and black garlic aioli that really elevated the meal.

If you aren't quite ready to leave, the three new desserts are a must. The Tiramisu at £7.95 was a hit, layered with espresso and Marsala-soaked sponge, but the Coconut and Lime Panna Cotta for £7.95 was the real standout for us. It was a bright, tropical delight, and the kitchen was particularly generous with the fresh mango, which worked perfectly against the coconut biscuit crumb. It’s exactly the kind of food that makes you want to linger all afternoon.
