Zeya the Amur Leopard Cub Steps Into the Spotlight This Weekend

Visitors to Dartmoor Zoo have a very special reason to visit this weekend, as Amur leopard cub Zeya makes her first appearance in the main on-show habitat.

From Saturday 31 January 2026, Zeya and her mother Lena will be visible to visitors as they begin exploring the zoo’s primary Amur leopard enclosure. Until now, Zeya has been settling into her new surroundings behind the scenes, making this an exciting milestone for both the zoo team and guests.

As this is still an early and sensitive stage, Dartmoor Zoo is asking visitors to keep noise to a minimum to help the pair adjust comfortably to their new home.

CEO Dr David Gibson described the move as a “momentous occasion”, adding that the zoo is proud to play a role in safeguarding the future of the critically endangered Amur leopard. He also noted that visitors will now be able to watch Zeya develop the skills she will need as she grows.

Zeya and Lena will have access to both indoor and outdoor areas, so they may not be visible immediately — but with a little patience, visitors may be rewarded with a rare and memorable sight.
