River Walkham Valley and Buckland Monachorum

Dartmoor National Park

A beautiful area for walking, biking and dog walking.

It's a former railway line from Plymouth through Yelverton to Tavistock and has been turned into a 21-mile route called Drake's Trail, crossing the Walkham Valley on the way.

There are one or two spots where the dog can swim out into wide areas and retrieve sticks and higher up near the car park, entrance and lavatories, there is a largish flat area for picnics games barbecues etc.

Complete the walk as a loop up around the railway viaduct and then down to the river and back up.

There is a popular pub in Buckland Monachorum too.
