Exeter Cygnet Theatre is a long-established and intimate arts venue and theatre company in the heart of Exeter, just above the historic Quay. A dynamic centre that combines professional and community performances with actor training and creative workshops. Its ethos has long been grounded in practical, learn-by-doing experience, with students and emerging performers taking to the stage in a range of productions from day one. 

The theatre’s programme is varied and lively, offering everything from classical plays and modern drama to musical theatre and experimental works. Productions often include interpretations of Shakespeare, contemporary plays, comedy and touring shows, providing both local audiences and visitors with engaging and diverse theatre experiences. In addition to staged productions, Cygnet hosts live music and performance events, such as jazz nights and occasional folk or string performances, adding a musical dimension to its rich cultural calendar.
