Exeter Cygnet Theatre is a long-established and intimate arts venue and theatre company in the heart of Exeter, just above the historic Quay. A dynamic centre that combines professional and community performances with actor training and creative workshops. Its ethos has long been grounded in practical, learn-by-doing experience, with students and emerging performers taking to the stage in a range of productions from day one. 

The theatre’s programme is varied and lively, offering everything from classical plays and modern drama to musical theatre and experimental works. Productions often include interpretations of Shakespeare, contemporary plays, comedy and touring shows, providing both local audiences and visitors with engaging and diverse theatre experiences. In addition to staged productions, Cygnet hosts live music and performance events, such as jazz nights and occasional folk or string performances, adding a musical dimension to its rich cultural calendar.

Two bands trace their shared connections to the Canterbury scene along an axis that includes avant-rock, Rock in Opposition & mythic prog.
Yumi Hara’s Groove Study are an avant-rock trio consisting of ex-Henry Cow drummer Chris Cutler; London-based Japanese composer/pianist/vocalist Yumi Hara, and ex-MELT-BANANA and collaborator with Jim O’Rourke and Eiko Ishibashi, bassist Toshiaki Sudoh.
Temple of Shibboleth: Billie Bottle - voice/keys, Viv Goodwin-Darke - flute/voice & Roz Harding - alto sax, are a surrealist sisterhood who in trio form are able to fully experiment with stretching out their material beyond the jazz horizon.

Kevin Harding's Here Comes the Sun Tour

Kevin joins us midway through his UK tour ‘Here Comes The Sun’, performing his fingerstyle guitar arrangements of popular Beatles songs plus some of his own compositions together with tunes from a new album he is currently recording (The Balladeer) and other popular fingerstyle guitar pieces.
He is supported by Pres Hotlas - a talented young fingerstyle guitarist from Cornwall who will open with both classical and percussive fingerstyle guitar pieces in a 30 minute set and then join Kevin later to perform some Beatles together at the end of the evening.
