This month, cinema audiences around the world will be transported to the fantastical world of Eternia as Masters of the Universe arrives on the big screen. While much of the blockbuster was produced at Sky Studios Elstree, some of the film's most dramatic scenes were brought to life in the South West – including right here in Devon.

Location scouts selected three remarkable locations across Somerset and Devon for the epic fantasy adventure:

Beer Quarry Caves, Devon
• Wookey Hole Caves, Somerset
• Wells Cathedral, Somerset

Among them, Beer Quarry Caves played a particularly important role, with the vast underground chambers providing the perfect setting for an otherworldly realm worthy of He-Man and Skeletor. Carved from limestone over 2,000 years ago, the caves are one of East Devon's most fascinating historic attractions and their atmospheric passageways proved ideal for the film's fantasy landscapes.

When the production arrived in Devon during the summer of 2025, the quiet fishing village of Beer found itself hosting a major Hollywood film crew. The ancient caves were transformed into a spectacular movie set as cast, crew and equipment descended on the area, bringing a touch of blockbuster magic to the Jurassic Coast.

Visitors to Beer Quarry Caves can now experience the same remarkable spaces that appeared on screen. Hidden beneath the Devon countryside, the caves offer a unique glimpse into the region's history while showcasing the dramatic scenery that attracted filmmakers from one of the year's biggest productions.

Directed by Travis Knight, best known for Bumblebee, Masters of the Universe follows Prince Adam as he returns to his home planet of Eternia to confront the evil Skeletor and reclaim his destiny as He-Man. The film stars Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man alongside Camila Mendes as Teela, Idris Elba as Man-at-Arms, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn and Jared Leto as Skeletor.

For many cinema-goers, the film will revive fond memories of the beloved 1980s franchise. But for visitors to Devon, it offers another reason to explore one of the county's hidden gems. Beer Quarry Caves have long fascinated visitors with their history and scale, and now they can add Hollywood filming location to their list of credentials.

Whether you're a fan of fantasy adventures, film locations or unique heritage attractions, a visit to Beer Quarry Caves offers the chance to step inside a setting that helped bring the legendary world of Masters of the Universe to life.

After watching the film, why not make your own journey to Eternia's Devon stand-in and discover the magic for yourself?
